Title I is the oldest of the title programs dating back to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. These federal funds are annually provided to schools and other entities that enhance and support the educational needs of at-risk children.

Children living in residential programs in Tennessee receive the benefits of Title I funding either through the local school system or by TN Alliance for Children and Families Title I grant to individual residential agencies.

Once an agency has completed the Annual Survey Form that is submitted to the State of Tennessee’s Department of Education for the previous contract year and qualifies to receive Title I funding through TN Alliance for Children and Families, then the agency will receive an application for the next fiscal year.

TN Alliance Education Coordinators will conduct Annual Monitoring visit to all Title I agencies to ensure compliance. One month prior to monitoring visit, the Education Coordinators shall send a confirmation with a date and time to each agency. Each agency should allot 60 to 75 minutes to complete the monitoring process. The Education Coordinator will review files (personal, achieves), inventory, and any processes/systems the agency uses to manage the Title I program on-site. The agency will receive a completed evaluation form noting findings within 7 business days of monitoring visit. Click here to view a copy of the evaluation form.
Agencies wishing to dispose of Title I Inventory should complete the Disposition Request Form. Please mail the completed form to the TN Alliance for Children and Families office at 2 International Plaza Dr, Suite 503, Nashville, TN 37217. Disposition requests will be reviewed and written approval/denial of request will be sent to agencies in a timely manner.
