New Family Connection Grants Announced!

CWLA
Dear TN Alliance,
Today, the Administration for Children and Families (ACF)  announced the RFP for a new grant proposal that was enacted as part of the  Fostering Connections to Success Act (P.L. 110-351).  The Act’s Family Connection Grants:
• Authorize a new grant program for activities designed to connect children in foster care (or at risk of entering foster care) with family.
• May be used for four different programs:
1.  kinship navigator programs;
2.   intensive family-finding efforts;
3.   family group decision-making meetings for children in the child welfare system, with special attention to children exposed to domestic violence; or
4.  residential family substance abuse treatment programs.
• Guarantee $15 million a year for competitive, matching grants to state, local, or tribal child welfare agencies and nonprofit organizations that have experience working with children in foster care or kinship care. $5 million of the $15 million in guaranteed funds are reserved each year for grants for kinship navigator programs.
The deadline for the FY 2009 grants is July 6, 2009.  Applicants can propose to carry out more than one of the areas of funding.  There is a matching funds requirement, but up to fifty percent of the match can be in-kind.  For complete details see the HHS announcement
